Thailand’s special climate gives all year round mango harvest

Thai mangoes are known for their beautiful golden skin and sweet, refreshing juices. But aside from that, they are also known for their availability all year round thanks to the always sweltering climate that never changes even in the winter! Thailand is located just above the equator, making it one of the most perfect locations for mangoes to go ripe, producing the juiciest and sweetest flesh.

How does Thailand’s location affect mango harvest?

The hot and humid climate of Thailand allows mango fruits to prosper and bloom. To the left is the yellow Nam Dok Mai mango and to the right is the green Young Nam Dok Mai mango for salad purposes.

Mangoes love the heat which is why the mango season in Thailand lasts from February until the end of July, the hottest and driest months. However, in other months, Thai mangoes are also available since they are grown in different locations and their harvest times alternate during the year. During the first few months, mangoes are harvested from Chaiyapoom, Pijit, Phitsanulok, and Udon. But as the climate in these locations start to change around June, mangoes are then harvested in Chiangmai and Chiangrai where the weather is more suitable for mangoes to grow. Towards the end of the year, the location then changes to Prajuab, Nakornratsima, and Chaiyapoom.

With so many mango farms across Thailand, it is nearly impossible that you will find any deficit of mango supply even if the season changes! If you’re craving for mangoes, Thailand has your back all year round!
