Mangosteen is a very popular fruit and has been referred to as the “Queen of Fruits” possibly
due to the attached sepals which resemble a crown of a queen.
It is also known to be rich with beneficial nutrients as well.
The fruit is of a round shape with about 3.5-7 centimeters or bigger in diameter.
The rind appears smooth with no spikes,
is very hard – of about 0.8 – 1.0 cm thick and turns deep reddish purple colored when ripe with yellow resin.
The white juicy flesh surrounding a seed measures 3-5 centimeter in diameter with soft and smooth texture.
